Platteville Development Group, Incorporated (PDG) was formed in 2005 with the express intent of improving and developing a 170-acre parcel of land adjacent to what was to become the East Business Hwy 151 and the 4-lane US Hwy 151 intersection.
Believing this development would strengthen Platteville’s position as the economic hub of Grant County, PDG commenced with the planning and eventual development of a development containing both commercial and residential areas. This development is known as Keystone Development.
The Plan
The plans for the commercial portion of the development included the placement of several national big box stores. This goal has been realized with the placement of a Walmart Supercenter and Menards Superstore in Keystone. These large retailers have drawn, and are now complemented by, smaller traditional commercial entities including retail stores, restaurants, financial institutions, and other professional businesses.
Given the location of the northern boundary of Keystone along the Rountree Branch waterway, PDG included residential areas in the development as well.
These include the Estates at Keystone, consisting of 36 single family home lots. In addition to being secluded from the commercial areas, the Estates has a private park and is adjacent to the Rountree Branch Trail, a paved and lighted pedestrian walking and biking trail that runs through the city to UW-Platteville, as well as connecting with the Belmont-Platteville Recreational Trail.
Additional residential areas have been designated and zoned for R2 (one- or two-family dwellings) and R3 (multi-family buildings).
